Welcome to The Basin Backyard. We are a small business founded by a husband and wife team with over 12 years of experience as a beekeepers. We have more than 200 beehives and sell honey from various locations, such as The Dandenongs and areas like Mornington Peninsula, Gippsland and Australia
We also love to provide beekeeping tips, advice at our Knoxfield shop and bee mentoring at your premises.
Our Mission
When we established our business, we wanted to do more for our community and customers. Our mission was to help the people of Melbourne and share our experiences, knowledge and understanding.

Honesty is something that there always seems to be a lacking of in the health foods and sustainable living sectors. Whether it’s false claims, propaganda or other misinformation, we wanted to help do our bit to increase knowledge. At The Basin Backyard, we pride ourselves on being 100% transparent about everything we do. From the processes, we use to look after our bees and produce the honey to the products we sell and all the advice we offer.

As part of our commitment to the local community and environment, we only ever produce and sell products of the highest quality possible. We know that our existing customers expect only the best, and as we continue to grow, we want our name to be synonymous with quality.
Passion
For us, the founders of The Basin Backyard, this is more than just a business venture. Having kept bees for the last 11 years, this is something we are genuinely passionate about. With our beekeeping, we have tried to find ways to do it sustainably and produce the most delicious and pure honey we can. It is this passion we have for raw, pure honey and sustainable living that we believe gives us the edge over our competition.
What We Are Committed To
At The Basin Backyard, we are strongly committed to our target audience of schools, kindergartens and ELCs, and other sectors and niches like those interested in nutrition and healthy eating. Given honey’s natural antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and induces the generation of antibodies, we are also here to help anyone who suffers from hay fever and other allergies.

Everything we do is fuelled by our love for the planet and the natural world. When we choose products, methods or anything else, it’s always with the environment in mind. Asking customers to brings their jar back to refill is just one way we show we care.
